- Hiring Rules -
Effective and beginning January 14, 2008, the following hiring rules
will be enforced. No one will be put to work unless they follow the
following procedures:
1.) All employees must register for hire at the Hiring Center. No person will receive an assignment slip if they have not yet registered. The only exception shall be that only registered members of a gang and/or M&R shops need to register when working with their gang or in their shop. Persons not hired will be placed on the on-call list.


1.a.) Registration and Assignment for 7:00 AM starts as follows:
...6:00 AM - 6:45 AM : Registration
...6:30 AM - 6:45 AM : Assignments
1.b.) Registration and Assignments for 8:00 AM starts as follows:
...6:00 AM - 7:15 AM : Registration
...7:30 AM - 7:45 AM : Assignments
1.c.) Registration and Assignments for 5:00 PM starts as follows:
12:00 PM - 1:15 PM : Registration

1.d.) Hiring for 5:00 PM and later will take place 1 hour before the start of the
...job. Employees that did not get assigned in the morning can use their
...registration slip for the 5:00 PM and later starts. Once that registered
...group is exhausted, non-registered employees can be hired.


2.) As required by the collective bargaining agreement, registered members
in a group must work with their gang when their gang is working. The only exception shall be if their particular skill is needed elsewhere (e.g., crane operator, payload operator, etc.) after which they shall be entitled to return to their gang.

3.) If a gang foreman is short of personnel, he shall immediately advise the Company. The Company will then determine whether to fill the position and, if so, will seek a qualified person from any source available.
